Protection of 2000 acres of high-yield aquifer recharge areas on windward Kohala Mountain, as well as globally-imperiled montane bog ecosystems, seabird nesting areas, and rare/endangered native plants.
KWP Partners:

Objectives:

  1. Build 5 miles of fencing
  2. Feral pig eradication (hunting/snaring)
  3. Invasive weed management (melastoma, kahili ginger, str. guava)
  4. Monitoring of seabird populations
  5. Monitoring of rare and endangered plant populations

Total Project Budget:

  • $600,000
